Signal Festival 2024 is a grand event focusing on digital art and creative culture, usually held in Prague, Czech Republic. The festival brings together artists from around the world to showcase cutting-edge digital art creations through various forms such as light and shadow installations, projection mapping, and interactive art. Participants can experience these art installations in Prague’s urban space and feel the fusion of technology and art. Signal Festival brings visual shock to the public, while also exploring how technology can redefine artistic expression and urban space.

Over the past 11 years, the festival has welcomed more than 4.50 million visitors to Prague. It combines contemporary visual art, urban space, and modern technology. It has become the most popular cultural activity in the Czech Republic. Signal Festival 2024 is a festival of lights, video mapping, and light installations. Under the guidance of Czech and international art space lighting design experts, Prague’s streets and public areas, most popular historical monuments, and lesser-known corners have changed over four nights, capturing the different faces of Prague today and yesterday in a non-traditional way.
第十二届信号灯光节主题为“生态系统II：探索”(Ecosystems II: Quest)，将展出22个装置，其中7个是画廊区的专属作品。新媒体艺术家曹雨西受到艺术节的邀请作为国际艺术家前去参展。此外，今年的电影节还将推出首届信号论坛，这是一场于 10 月 11 日至 12 日在 CAMP 举行的网络会议。该活动将邀请来自技术、新媒体和科学领域的顶尖专家发表演讲。

关于项目
多维采样是曹雨西自2019年以来不断发展的长期视听系列。装置的概念呈现了当前数字时代的图腾，并将物理世界与数字世界联系起来。古代文化中的图腾母题象征着属于一个部落或社会群体，该群体通过对单一实体的崇拜而团结在一起。曹雨西创造了一种与当代社会的联系，该社会也倾向于并崇拜一个特定的实际实体，即不断发展的数字技术。装置的视觉形式基于二维码的符号，或网站的独特印记，用于进入数据信息的空间。二维码的进化几何形状，与立方巨石的母题一起，象征着我们平行世界之间的接口。老城广场中心装置的视听版本是与香港艺术家Lawrence Lau合作创作的。空间声音组合结合了来自数字和现实世界的抽象声音。大多数声音来自手机或电脑，强烈定义了整个空间的动态。
Dimensional Sampling is a long-term audiovisual series that Cao Yuxi has been continuously developing since 2019. The concept of the installation presents the totem of the current digital era and connects the physical world with the digital one. The totem motif in ancient cultures symbolizes belonging to a tribe or social group that is united by the worship of a single entity. Cao Yuxi creates an association to contemporary society, which also inclines towards and worships a specific actual entity, namely the ever-evolving digital technology. The visual form of the installation is based on the symbol of the QR code, or the unique imprint of a website, used to enter the space of data information. The evolved geometry of the QR code, together with the motif of the cubic monolith, symbolises the interface between our parallel worlds. The audiovisual version of the installation in the centre of the Old Town Square was created in collaboration with Hong Kong artist Lawrence Lau. The spatial sound composition combines abstract sounds from the digital and real worlds. Most of the sounds come from mobile phones or computers, and strongly define the dynamics of the entire space.

曹雨西的作品包括视听装置、现场表演、创意编码、数据可视化和利用人工智能的当代艺术方法。曹雨西来自中国，毕业于纽约市视觉艺术学院中国中央美术学院和计算机艺术系。他的作品曾在世界各地的当代艺术博物馆和新媒体艺术节上展出，包括北京的今日美术馆和民生美术馆、纽约的现代艺术博物馆PS1。2022年，曹雨西担任北京冬奥会开幕式视觉效果总监。
Cao Yuxi AKA James Cao’s work includes audiovisual installations, live performances, creative coding, data visualization and contemporary artistic methods using artificial intelligence. Originally from China, James graduated from the China Central Academy of Fine Arts and Computer Art Department at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. His work has been exhibited in contemporary art museums and new media art festivals around the world, including Today Art Museum and Minsheng Art Museum in Beijing, MoMA PS1 in New York. In 2022, Cao Yuxi took on the prestigious role of visual effects director for the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics.
刘晓江毕业于香港演艺学院和香港城市大学，主修作曲、电子音乐和创意媒体艺术。除了室内乐、管弦乐或现场电子音乐和视听艺术，艺术家还在剧院、画廊和非传统空间探索不同的概念、语言和制作的本质。
Lau Hiu Kong AKA Lawrence Lau graduated from Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and City University of Hong Kong, majoring in composition, electronic music and creative media arts. In addition to chamber, orchestral or live electronic music and audiovisual art, the artist explores different concepts, languages and the nature of making in theatres, galleries and unconventional spaces.

布拉格最著名的广场如果曹玉玺的装置没有完全改变这个空间，就不需要介绍了。Dimensions Sample站在历史十字路口的中央，吸引了原本应该关注布拉格天文钟的注意力。取而代之的是一个巨大的二维码，通过现在的镜头重新诠释了我们可能会经过的纪念碑：圣尼古拉斯巴洛克教堂、洛可可金斯基宫、石钟哥特式房屋和扬胡斯大师的宏伟纪念碑。
Prague’s most famous square would need no introduction if Cao Yuxi’s installation had not completely transformed the space. Dimensional Sampling stands in the middle of the historic crossroads, drawing attention that would otherwise be devoted to the Prague Astronomical Clock. In its place, the view is captured by a monumental QR code that reinterprets through the lens of the present the monuments that we might otherwise pass by: the Baroque Church of St Nicholas, the Rococo Kinsky Palace, the Gothic House at the Stone Bell and the grand monument to Master Jan Hus.
